I see Drupal as a complex
Cyclic Metadata, Event, Dispatch driven Content Management Framework
Not MVC, as seems to be widely acknowledged. Some authors refer to is as Presentation-Abstraction-Control (PAC).
I view it as a kind of internal Service-oriented_architecture.
